Cable House addresses two seemingly competing requirements: functional spaces for a young family, and a design sensitive to its surrounding area.

The home’s striking gable roof ensures the lowest points adjoin neighbouring properties, offering a simple yet compelling solution to planning regulations.

Inside, skylights over the stairs and above the kitchen draw natural light into the living spaces, while another window at table height connects the dining space to a small eastern courtyard.

Working with minimal outdoor space saw plant life integrated with the architecture to preserve a connection with nature. A planter box is built into the façade, with vines growing around steel cables to soften minimalist lines and, over time, create a living green exterior.

These signature elements are echoed in the interiors, from the steel cables that form the balustrade to the planter for vines encased in joinery, bringing foliage into the heart of the home.
